e3s Attends FOSS4G SotM Oceania 2024

Jessie Lindsay, our Geospatial Analyst here at e3s, recently returned from Hobart where the QGIS Australia User Group meeting (a group that supports QGIS users in Australia) and FOSS4G SotM Oceania took place.

The QGIS Australia User Group was a great day for problem solving and sharing ideas on what we wanted from QGIS including the creation of an Australasian QGIS feature wish list. FOSS4G is part of a conference series run by the OSGeo community with the objective of fostering and promoting the adoption of open source geospatial technology.

It was awesome catching up with other members of the open source community and hearing what projects and initiatives everyone had been working on. First time presenting and had a great time presenting a lightning talk on macroinvertebrate enumeration and a longer talk using generative AI to find historic sheep dips!

As always at FOSS4G: a great community spirit, a lot of new ideas to learn and new ways of problem solving to try and apply at e3s!
