Exploring Environmental Science with Liger Academy!
Last week, Nicole from e3Scientific had the privilege of giving a presentation to students at Liger Academy on the world of environmental science.
She shared the real-world science behind what we do every day, including:
- Monitoring groundwater and stream health
- Assessing stream flow rates and groundwater supply
- Mapping wetlands
- Assessing soils and infiltration rates
Followed by a conversation and demonstrations around water quality parameters and redox conditions of groundwater.
From rusting nails to oxygen-starved soils, students explored how reduction and oxidation reactions shape:
⚡ Water quality
🦠 Microbial activity
🌾 Soil chemistry
💧 And even the way nutrients and metals move underground
Hands-on experiments + real case studies = engaged minds and plenty of questions!
