The e3s scientific dive team recently had the pleasure of completing subtidal ecological assessments in the marine reserve in Patersons’ Inlet, Stewart Island. This involved sediment and infauna coring, epibiota photo transects and photoquadrats of wharf piles. The biodiversity and habitat created by a wharf is often underestimated and they can often be one of the most interesting dive sites – even in a marine reserve.
